It’s been a busy few months here in Pego. It might be a warm 42 degrees some days at the moment but almost every day you will have found us beavering on, laying a batch or two of the thousands of bricks which have made the plans come alive.
And today, we finally placed the very last brick.
It sometimes felt that we would never get there. We started back in November 2025, and while we have been chipping away at other jobs, such as getting the services in, waterproofing the roof, and cleaning out project 14 (wait, what?) there have been hundreds of hours spent on the biggest part of the project.

Next Up: The Roof
We couldn’t have timed it better. This morning the first of two great lorry loads of tiles, insulation, button, bits and pieces were delivered. And just after the final tile went in, there was a toot as the driver from BigMat appeared with over 2000 roof tiles.
We’ve gone with the same tile and manufacturer that we had in the townhouse – so, it should all come flying back to us how to do it… We couldn’t have timed it better if we tried. The garden is all dug up for the services, so they’ve been unloaded as far from the house as possible. It takes me back to carrying tiles up and down the stairs of the townhouse. Perhaps with the amount of humping and bumping we have to do, I’ll get that figure and fitness back….
It’s likely to take a few months to get the roof done. Especially as we’re working on the final stages of getting the caravan refurbished and fitting a temporary bathroom so we can finally move onto site. We’re also in the trows of getting quotes for windows (geezus they are speedy!) so we can get watertight. But, we’re moving closer every day. Even when we cant see a change for looking.
